Melvin Richardson ran 32 yards for a touchdown with two minutes left in the first quarter to give Long Beach Poly a 7-0 lead over Esperanza in the Pac-5 Division quarterfinal playoff game.
Poly’s defense has given up 14 yards in Esperanza’s first two offensive possessions. Earlier, Poly had a fourth-and-two situation from the Esperanza 20, and quarterback Morgan Fennell was stopped short, turning over the ball to the Aztecs with 4:55 left in the first quarter.
