Things got worse for Newbury Park in the second half. Johnny MacArthur intercepted a Colby Cameron pass on the Panthers opening drive of the third quarter and Hart took over at its own 15-yard line. Delano Howell, pictured, made Cameron pay for the mistake. Made him pay dearly.
The senior running back nearly single-handedly drove the Indians down the field. First he picked up 18 yards on a run. Then there was a 29-yard reception from B.R. Holbrook, followed by a 16-yard gain on the ground. Finally, he scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to give Hart a 24-6 lead with 6:28 left in the third quarter.
Are you kidding me? Cameron just threw another pick, to MacArthur, no less. Howell, of course, scored one play later, breaking through the line of scrimmage and outrunning three defensive backs en route to a 50-yard touchdown run. Howell has 205 yards so far and it’s a 31-6 ballgame now heading into the fourth quarter. This one could be over folks.
