That was a blast.
Kendry Morales hammered a 1-and-2 pitch from Chad Billingsley off the wraparound electronic scoreboard below the loge level in right field for a grand slam, capping a five-run third inning that has given the Angels a 6-3 lead over the Dodgers in the Freeway Series finale.
It was the kind of power display the Angels hope to see a lot of this season from a middle of the order that also includes Torii Hunter, Hideki Matsui and Juan Rivera.
Hunter also drove in a run in the inning with a single to left field. It’s shaping up as more of a breakdown than a tuneup for Billingsley, who couldn’t even make it through the third before being pulled in favor of ... Tim Corcoran.
