USC women’s basketball Coach Michael Cooper has been reprimanded by the Pac-10 for a postgame comment he made earlier this week about his team’s crosstown rival.
Cooper reportedly said ‘[expletive] UCLA’ following the Trojans’ 70-63 victory over the Bruins on Sunday. The former Lakers standout and Sparks coach apologized for his comment in a letter to UCLA Coach Nikki Caldwell.
‘There is no excuse for it,’ Cooper wrote in his apology, ‘and I realize it is outside the bounds of good sportsmanship.’
The reprimand was issued by Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott.
Cooper is in his first year with the Trojans.
