Sparks guard Kristi Harrower will miss the Sparks’ next three games after the passing of her grandmother, the team said in a statement today.

Harrower, who played for the Australian team in the Beijing Olympics, will return to her native country tonight to attend her grandmother’s funeral and will rejoin the team Sept. 3.

She will miss the Sparks’ following home games: Phoenix Mercury (Thursday), Connecticut Sun (Sunday) and Atlanta Dream (Tuesday).

‘Our hearts and prayers go out to Kristi and her family,’ Sparks General Manager Penny Toler said in a statement. ‘We want her to take the time she needs and know that we are thinking of her and supporting her during this tough time.’

Harrower has started in 24 of 27 games at point guard this season, but averages 3.5 points in 18.7 minutes per game.
