President-elect Barack Obama may have family ties to the Oregon State basketball program, but down state it’s the Oregon Ducks that seem to have gone swift-boat on the Beavers.
The Ducks’ media guide includes a full-page photo of Obama accepting a personalized Oregon jersey during a campaign stop at the university’s McArthur Court.
Meanwhile, Oregon State is refusing to ride the Obama coattails. There is no mention of Coach Craig Robinson’s famous brother-in-law in the Beavers’ media guide.
Still, though Oregon can claim it sent a shirt to Washington D.C., Oregon State can point out it has sent a person: President-elect Obama selected OSU professor Dr. Jane Lubchenco to chair the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
