Tinie Tempah is still getting used to being on American soil, as evidenced by his attempt to liven up the crowd.
‘What’s up, Palm Springs?’ he exclaimed to the giggles of a few in the crowd. He wasn’t that far off, but he wanted to get it right for next time.
“Do you want me to say Coachella, California, West Coast, what? I’m new to this,’ the 22-year-old British rapper said when asking how to address the crowd during a moment of audience banter.

The Brit import, whose blend of hip-hop, dubstep and grime has made him a chart smash in the U.K., played to a massive crowd at the Gobi tent Sunday evening right after another Brit import, Ellie Goulding, took the stage.
His debut at Coachella was easily one of the biggest crowds he’s played in the States, though he didn’t make it through unscathed.
After getting off late start, he swept through an abbreviated set of cuts from his 2010 debut, “Disc-Overy” (the disc is slated for a U.S. release May 3), including “Pass Out,” “Written in the Stars” and “Miami 2 Ibiza,’ a collab with Swedish House Mafia.
Before being joined by Goulding for their single, “Wonderman,” he aired out a demand.
‘... better be sounding right now, I swear to God,’ he said.
