Need proof that the Republican race for governor is tightening? Look no further than Meg Whitman’s campaign ads.
Gone are the positive, biography-based ads filled with sunshine and testimonials from Whitman’s former EBay cohorts. Whitman is now in full attack mode, trying to convince Republican voters that Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner is not as conservative as he makes himself out to be.
In her latest ad, Whitman makes an appeal to seniors, twisting Poizner’s past support for a measure to make it easier to raise property taxes to pay for schools as a ‘campaign to raise property taxes, even for retirees.’
Absentee ballots are being mailed to voters next week, and older voters are more likely to vote absentee than younger voters.
