Gold: Trading now at $1,402 per ounce, up 0.4% from Wednesday. Dow Jones industrial average: Trading now at 11,749.56, up 1.2% from Wednesday.
Inflation nation. Concerns about rising food prices were confirmed Thursday morning when new inflation numbers were announced, showing consumer prices rising 2.1%.
Paying big dividends. A number of top Wall Street executives are likely to see big windfalls when the Federal Reserve allows a number of large banks, including JPMorgan Chase & Co. to raise dividends.
Yen rising. Since last week’s earthquake, the Japanese yen has been rocketing upward -- a primer on the phenomenon.
