A team of designers and illustrators known as Three Blind Ants is behind the creation of the eco-friendly Boxsal, a compostable picnic in a box. Equipped with utensils, plates, cups and napkins, all that’s needed is food and drink of your choice -- a stick of salami, a baguette and a bottle of wine, perhaps -- to complete the box.
Among the different styles is the Urban Picnic Box, designed for artsy city dwellers who still look for a good, old-fashioned picnic even if it means setting up a blanket on the roof of a high-rise.
Other ideas for urban-style picnic dates include after a bike ride along the Venice Canals or a hike in Temescal Canyon, before an outdoor jazz concert at LACMA or atop the Griffith Observatory. Boxsal.com.
