Mailbag: Story on Hispanic genealogy was inspiring
- Share via
I read with great interest the article “O.C. lineage research group uncovers Hispanic genealogies rich with detail.” It was intriguing and very inspiring.
I have tried to get information from my in-laws, which might lead me to some more about the ancestors of my husband, and have received just bits and pieces of the family history and no backup to prove what I do have.
I have already ordered the book by George Ryskamp, which is mentioned in the story, and will read it from cover to cover.
I would like to get in contact with the Orange County FamilySearch Library as well as subscribe to the monthly magazine Somos Primos.
I thank you for reawakening a desire in me to research the past and get acquainted with our ancestors. I am doing this for my children, who would like to know more about their roots.

Shining light on plight of immigrant detainees
Thanks for the articles on the way migrants are held in jails and on the Friends of Orange County Detainees (“Jails serve inmates, immigrants” and “Group lends an ear, a helping hand”).
If more people understood that most migrants are simply ordinary people fleeing difficult, oppressive conditions, then I think we would begin to treat them in ways that are better for everybody.
