Paperny leads six honorees

Cassidy Paperny, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter who led the Orange Empire Conference with 5.41 kills per set, tops six local players named All-OEC in women’s volleyball.

Paperny, who had 357 kills and hit .397, which ranked No. 2 among conference players, was a repeat first-team selection.

Also on the first team was Golden West sophomore Kate Stanjevich and Orange Coast freshman Sierra Lim.

Stanjevich, a setter and outside hitter, led the Rustlers with 332 assists and 35 aces and was second on the team with 241 digs. She had 82 kills to help the team finish 17-6, 12-4 in conference.

Golden West finished second in conference and reached the second round of the Southern California Regional playoffs.

Lim, a libero, led the conference in digs (593) and digs per set (6.37).

Ashleigh Atsaros and Jasmine Gonzalez represented Golden West on the second team, while OCC sophomore Megan Ritchie was also a second-team choice.

Atsaros, a freshman middle blocker, hit .286 with 110 kills. She also led the team with 43 blocks.

Gonzalez, a freshman outside hitter, had 220 kills, 212 digs and 28 aces.

Ritchie, a setter, had 241 assists, 131 digs, 56 kills and 15 aces for the Pirates, who finished 9-17, 4-12.
