Lions’ Lamunu honored

Vanguard University senior Claire Lamunu was named Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball on Monday.

The 6-foot-1 forward, a native of Uganda, averaged 26.5 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals to help the No. 6-ranked Lions (14-1, 3-0 in conference) earn GSAC road wins against William Jessup (Thursday) and Menlo (Saturday).

Lamunu has 13 double-doubles this season after Wednesday’s nonconference home win against Saint Katherine College. She has posted double-digit points and rebounds in her last seven games, through Wednesday.
