High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian girls’ soccer wins again

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Pacifica Christian 5, Fairmont Prep 1
Eunice Choi had two goals and an assist for the Tritons in Thursday’s nonleague game.
Sadie Hill and Alyssa Smith both had a goal and an assist, and Brooklyn Motske also scored for Pacifica Christian (10-1).
Pacifica Christian plays host to New Roads School on Tuesday at Vanguard University.
Estancia 2, Saddleback 1
SANTA ANA — Senior Delani Guyot scored twice for the Eagles in Thursday’s Orange Coast League game on the road.
Freshman Desiree Mendoza had both assists for Estancia (7-3-2, 2-0 in league).
Estancia, ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section Division 4, plays host to No. 4 Calvary Chapel in a key league game on Tuesday.
Corona del Mar 1, University 1
Celeste Wayne scored the equalizer off Elizabeth Lamie’s assist for the Sea Kings in Thursday’s Pacific Coast League game at CdM.
CdM is now 12-0-3, 0-0-2 in league, and plays host to Woodbridge on Tuesday.
Edison 3, Newport Harbor 1
Mikayla Edwards had a goal and an assist for the Chargers in Thursday’s Sunset League game at Edison High.
Serena Starks and Maddie Macias also scored for Edison (11-4-2, 4-0 in league), which stayed in outright first place in league.
Newport Harbor is 1-3 in league.
The Chargers play at Los Alamitos in a key game Tuesday at 5 p.m.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Sage Hill 70, Oxford Academy 51
Dominic Sadeghi led all scorers with 17 points to help the Lightning (11-4, 2-1 in Academy League) past the Patriots (5-11, 2-2).
Max Nanula added 15 points and Greg Park had 13 for Sage Hill.
The Lightning jumped out ahead in the first quarter, and a strong fourth quarter kept Oxford Academy from getting any closer than nine points down in the final period.
“If you’re going to have any two quarters, it’s nice to have those two,” Lightning Coach Billy Conlon said of his team’s propensity to start and finish games well.
Ahmed Osman and David Yi each had 15 points to pace Oxford.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Sunset League
Edison 56, Newport Harbor 34
Lexi Alvarez had 20 points, six rebounds, and five steals, but it wasn’t enough to deter the Chargers (11-6, 2-1 in league) from beating the Sailors (6-11, 0-3).
Lisa Hamilton added six points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
Huntington Beach 62, Fountain Valley 27
Frankie Wade-Sanchez scored 23 points and Kaylyn Nakaji added 10 points to help the Oilers (12-7, 2-1) to victory.
Monet Oncu’s 10 points paced the Barons (6-9, 0-3).
Los Alamitos 71, Marina 32
Courtney Suruki had eight points to pace the Vikings (7-12, 2-1) in defeat.
The Griffins sit atop the Sunset League at 14-3 overall, 3-0 in league.
