Breakdown: The Rustlers led, 17-6, heading into the fourth quarter of last week’s 20-17 home loss to Riverside (2-0), which was elevated to the No. 1 spot in the state poll…Golden West fell to No. 11 in the state…The Rustlers are banged up, missing their top quarterback, receiver, middle linebacker, and defensive end. They are also without a starting defensive tackle due to injuries, Coach Nick Mitchell said…Garcia stood out against Riverside, providing consistent blanket coverage and making quick and sure tackles, even when receivers managed to catch a pass on his watch…Kahunanui (11 tackles) shifts from outside to middle backer in place of freshman Joseph Inda (a team-best 12 tackles), who is out with a hamstring injury…Time has 11 tackles and had the biggest hit of the game against RCC…Sophomore defensive end Damon Roberts was lost for the season with a torn ACL against RCC, Mitchell said…Golden West ranks No. 2 in the 37-school Southern California Football Assn. in scoring defense (10 points per game), while Chaffey ranks No. 2 in rushing (445 yards per game)…Chaffey’s two losses have come against unbeaten No. 18-ranked Bakersfield (45-35) and Citrus (48-41)…Chaffey is No. 36 in the SCFA in scoring defense (46.5 ppg).
