Sydnee Driggs had a career-high 20 points for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference opener on Wednesday.

Michelle Wu had 10 points and Chyann Pendergrass had eight points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Pirates (12-7).

OCC trailed by just one through three quarters.

Saddleback is 14-5.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Saddleback 63, Orange Coast 59

Reserves Nate Harding and Kamar Reese had 13 and 12 points respectively for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference opener on Wednesday.

OCC’s upset bid fell just short, however, as it dropped to 7-9.

Saddleback is 15-2.
