WESTMINSTER — Taeveon Le finished with 16 points, leading the Sea Kings to the semifinals of the Charlie Wilkins Memorial Tournament on Friday.

The Sea Kings (7-2) play Laguna Beach in the tournament finale at Westminster High on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Nick Borquez contributed nine point and DJ Rodman added seven points for CdM.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Seniors Will Hunter and Brett Haney scored first-half goals, while Blake Munger and Jon Wirta found the back of the net in the second half in the Sea Kings’ nonleague match on the road Friday.

Goalkeepers Koen Ebbinga and Christopher Bartolic combined for the shutout. The duo has held five of CdM’s seven opponents scoreless.

The Sea Kings (5-1-1) compete in the South Orange County Classic at El Toro on Monday at 1 p.m. El Toro is ranked No. 8 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 50, Ayala 34

SANTA ANA — Natalia Bruening had 24 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks for CdM in a fifth-place semifinal of the Segerstrom Tournament on Friday.

Krista Anderson had 14 points and 10 rebounds for CdM (6-2), while Sami Uehara had five points and three steals.

The Sea Kings play Tesoro in the fifth-place game Saturday at 4 p.m.

WRESTLING

Ed Springs Invitational

BREA OLINDA — Newport Harbor 138-pound senior Erik Herrera and 195-pound junior Drew Dobbs reached the semifinals of the tournament at Brea Olinda High on Friday.

The Sailors’ wrestlers in the consolation bracket are Ethan Zimmerman, Cooper Hendrix, DJ Dennison, David Santos and Valdemar Gomez.
