Briefs: Fisher out at Estancia

Estancia High girls’ tennis coach Kendra Fisher has resigned after one season, she confirmed in a text message.

Fisher said she had fun coaching her alma mater but earned a promotion with her job at Lululemon and could not continue with the Eagles.

“I wanted to stay with the girls and do both, but it didn’t make sense for my future,” Fisher said in the text message. “I have nothing but positive things to say about the girls, school and program. I truly wish I could make both work.”

The Eagles went 14-6 in Fisher’s only year at the helm, finishing second in the Orange Coast League with an 8-2 mark. They lost at San Juan Hills in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

Former Estancia Coach Rachel de los Santos, who still teaches science at the school, is trying to help the Estancia girls find a new head coach for this fall. Interested applicants can email a resume to Athletic Director Nate Goellrich at [email protected].
