College Roundup: OCC edged by rival Golden West

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Golden West def. Orange Coast

Sophomore Adrian Faitalia had 22 kills and 16 digs for OCC, but the Rustlers won the Pacific Coast Conference match, 25-23, 25-27, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13, on Wednesday.

Sophomores Andrew McCall and Sean Keyes had 28 and 24 assists, respectively, and freshman Gian Grasso had 11 kills and 11 digs for OCC (9-2, 2-1 in conference).

Golden West is 9-2 3-0.

MEN’S GOLF

Orange Empire Conference meet

CHINO — Marcus De La Rosa, Austin Briggs and Jordan Meas each shot 74 to help lead Orange Coast College to the lowest score against five teams at El Prado Golf Course on Wednesday.

The Pirates finished with 375.

Riverside (378), Santiago Canyon (379), Cypress (381), Irvine Valley (398) and Saddleback (397) followed.

SOFTBALL

Orange Coast 8, Santa Ana 1

SANTA ANA – Anna Marin went three for four with a home run and three runs batted in to pace the visiting Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Tuesday.

Linnea Donahugh was two for three with two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base, while Taylor Gallo drove in two runs for the Pirates (4-9, 3-4 in conference).

Montana Roelvink pitched complete game for OCC to earn the win.

Santa Ana is 7-12, 2-4.

MEN’S TENNIS

Doubleheader

Host UC Irvine defeated Gonzaga, 4-1, then topped Liberty, 4-2, in nonconference matches Tuesday.

Against Gonzaga, Justin Agbayani won in singles and doubles. He won his No. 5 singles match and teamed with Jonathan Poon for a victory at No. 1 doubles.

Tyler Pham won in singles and doubles against Liberty to help UCI improve to 10-5.

Pham won at No. 3 singles and paired with Jonathan Hammel to triumph at No. 2 doubles.
