Newport Harbor 55, Huntington Beach 50 (overtime)
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Charlie Stassel scored 25 points to lead the Sailors to the Sunset League win on Thursday.
With the victory, the Sailors became the seventh Newport Harbor team to record 20 wins, assistant coach Jason Carey said in an email.
Nate Harding contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for Newport Harbor (20-5, 5-2 in league), which plays host to first-place Los Alamitos on Friday at 7 p.m.

Calvary Chapel 57, Estancia 49
SANTA ANA — Cameron Jones had 17 points for Estancia in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League game on the road.
Evan Pettingill added 14 points for Estancia (11-14, 1-6 in league).
Estancia plays host to Costa Mesa in the second Battle for the Bell game on Friday night.

Estancia 2, Calvary Chapel 1
Andy Martinez scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute for Estancia in an Orange Coast League match at home on Wednesday.
Kevin Pizarro assisted on Martinez’s goal.
Estancia’s George Martinez had an unassisted goal in the 30th minute.
Estancia (10-4-4, 3-2-2 in league) plays archival Costa Mesa at Jim Scott Stadium on Friday at 5 p.m.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Corona del Mar 16, University 3
Chloe Harbilas had six goals for the Sea Kings, who clinched the outright Pacific Coast League title after Wednesday’s win at CdM.
Jaleh Moaddeli scored three for CdM (13-7, 8-0 in league). Layne Anzaldo, Abigal Klein, Tia DiGiovanni, Devon Cooper, Emily Ritner, Caitlin Harvey and Sophie Wallace also scored.
Heidi Ritner made nine saves, and Erin Tharp had five.
CdM opens play at the Irvine Southern California Championships on Thursday, with a home game against Villa Park at 3 p.m. If the Sea Kings win, they would likely play rival Newport Harbor in the second round at 7 p.m., also at CdM.

Newport Harbor 15, Marina 5
Senior co-captain Katie Kearns had four goals, four assists and five steals for the Sailors in Wednesday’s Sunset League game at Newport Harbor High.
Sarah Barker had three goals, an assist and a steal for Newport Harbor (8-13, 3-1 in league), while Josie Miller had two goals and two steals. Quincy Morgan, Kaela Whelan, Jessica Lynch, Sammie Garcia, Lissa Westerman and Claire Tafoya all scored individual goals. Maddy Kanzler and Chloe Schilling each had two saves in goal.
Los Alamitos beat Huntington Beach, 10-7, in another league game Wednesday. The Griffins are 4-0 in league and can clinch the outright title by beating Marina next week. The Sailors are in a second-place tie with the Oilers, but Newport owns the head-to-head tiebreaker and would likely earn the league’s second designated spot into the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs by beating Edison next week.
Newport Harbor opens play in the Irvine Southern California Championships tournament with a game against Long Beach Wilson on Thursday at 4 p.m. at CdM. If the Sailors win, they would likely play the rival Sea Kings in the second round at 7 p.m.
