Calls claiming homes require updating are false, sanitary district says

The Costa Mesa Sanitary District is advising residents to disregard phone calls from someone falsely claiming that the city is requiring older homes to be updated to comply with a new sewer system.

Costa Mesa’s sewer system is owned and maintained by the sanitary district, not the city, “and there is no new sewer system that requires compliance,” according to a statement from the district.
