A benefit at Sgt. Pepperoni’s Pizza Store raised $2,700 for the family of Brock McCann, an 8-year-old Newport Beach boy who was struck and killed by a trash truck last month.
Between 5 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, the restaurant on Bristol Street in Newport Beach donated 50% of its sales to the McCann family, according to Jennifer Frazier, one of the store’s owners.
As diners ate pizza inside, children and parents wrote messages in Brock’s memory on a banner outside.
The donations from Sgt. Pepperoni’s add to almost $80,000 raised as of Wednesday evening at gofundme.com/brockmccann.
