2 masked men use a large knife to rob motel guests
Two masked men robbed a pair of motel guests at knifepoint in Costa Mesa early Monday, according to police.
The robbers, both wearing hooded sweat shirts, knocked on the door of a room at the Ramada Inn at 1680 Superior Ave. at 3:12 a.m., Costa Mesa police Sgt. Matt Selinske said.
When the guests opened the door, the men brandished a large sheath knife and demanded money, Selinske said.
After one of the guests handed over cash, the masked men left, according to police. The robbers jumped a nearby fence along Newport Boulevard, Selinske said.
Police found the knife near the fence, Selinske said.
One of the guests suffered a minor cut on the back of her arm during a short struggle with the robbers, according to police.
