Speakeasy-style lounge debuts in Newport
Newport Beach has a new 1920s speakeasy-style establishment.
Envy Lounge, at 4647 MacArthur Blvd., replaces the Ten Nightclub, which operated for about a decade.
The new lounge, by Newport Beach entrepreneurs Sammy Lakhany and Ali Hojat, features microbrews and small plates of American cuisine.
Promoters say the 4,000-square-foot venue, which has private cabanas on its perimeter, is “reminiscent of early Hollywood glitz and glamour in true ‘Great Gatsby’ style. Bright yellow and deep blue velvet sofas, luxurious crystal lighting and heavy velvet drapery evoke sophisticated ‘20s party elegance.”
The lounge is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and for special events.
