Pet of the Week: Major

With help, Community Animal Network can correct Major’s “cherry eye.”
The beagle has been waiting to have his visibly protruding gland corrected. Because Major is a young animal, tacking the gland for the estimated cost of $775 is the network’s first choice over surgically removing it for more than $2,000.
However, other procedures may follow, because in many instances the sutures loosen and then surgical removal is required.
Certain breeds are more prone to cherry eye than others. Animals like Major with one eye bulge have a higher-than-average chance that the other eye will need correction too.
