Locals named to Planned Parenthood board

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties appointed five Orange County residents, including several from Newport Beach, Corona del Mar and Irvine, to its board of directors for the new fiscal year, according to a press release.
Kathy Vrabeck of Newport Coast, William M. Weinberg of Irvine, Susan Leibel of Irvine, Afsaneh Alisobhani of Corona del Mar, Laguna Beach Mayor Jane Egly and Belinda Escobosa Helzer of Villa Park were announced Wednesday as the newest board members.
All have strong professional backgrounds, the release said.
Vrabeck is a partner at the law firm Heidrick and Struggles in its media, entertainment and digital practice.
Weinberg has nearly 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer.
Leibel has nearly 30 years of experience with nonprofits, including a position as the executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County, or CASA.
Alisobhani is a faculty member at Newport Psychoanalytic Institute in Tustin, and Hezler is the director of the Orange County office of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California.
Egly, has served on the Laguna Beach City Council since 2004, was a trial attorney for 25 years.
Jon Dunn, president and chief executive of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties, said in a statement: “Our new board members are all longtime Orange County residents who are passionate about our mission to create healthy communities by providing confidential, affordable, high-quality reproductive health care and accurate health information.”
