The 2013 season came to an end Saturday for three Huntington Beach Jr. All-American Football teams who lost in the second-round of the postseason playoffs.
The Jr. Pee Wee Division Oilers fell, 14-7, to the South Bay Packers. The Clinic Division Oilers were edged, 13-6, by the Inglewood Jets, and the Jr. Midget Division Oilers were defeated, 18-6, by the South Orange County Patriots.
In the Jr. Pee Wee Oiler’s 14-7 loss to South Bay at San Juan Hills High, Huntington’s David Ramirez returned a first-quarter kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to tie the score at 7-7. The teams were still deadlocked until the fourth quarter, when the Packers returned a pass interception 40 yards for the winning score.
The game was a defensive battle in which the Oilers forced three fumbles two of which were recovered by Zachary Italasano. Brady Gardner also had a recovery.
