Pateadores Costa Mesa U-14 boys win national title
The Pateadores Costa Mesa under-14 boys’ team claimed the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship after it posted a 4-0 shutout win against the Michigan Wolves 99 in Overland Park, Kan., on Saturday.
Christopher Lopez scored two goals and Santiago Galera added another goal for the Pateadores.
The Pateadores went 3-1 during the six-day tournament, their lone loss came against Penn Fusion. The Pateadores outscored their opponents, 9-2.
Lopez and Galera recorded three goals each during the tournament.
Other members on the team included Anthony Garduno, Daniel Aranda, Abraham Murillo, Isaac Romero, Edward Gonzalez, Jose Macias, Jhovany Tenorio, Jonick Pineda, Carlos Vazquez, Eric Payeras, Ernesto Sanchez, Felipe Sanchez III, Roberto Juarez, Ronaldo Fuentes, Christian Enriquez and Brian Melchor. Mario Gonzalez was the coach.
