High School Roundup: Sea Kings to get bling

Corona del Mar High is having a ring ceremony on Friday at 10 a.m. for its football team, which repeated as the CIF Southern Section Southern Division champion last December, said Coach Scott Meyer.
The Sea Kings went 12-2, 5-0 in the Pacific Coast League last season, Meyer’s second in charge.
Corona del Mar has won four section titles in football.

Tournament of Champions
INDIO — Corona del Mar High junior Drew Hanson’s tied-for-12th finish helped the Sea Kings earn sixth place in the 38-team two-day tournament that ended Thursday at the Golf Club At Terra Lago.
CdM scored 916 in the 54-hole tournament that had college-style scoring, play five, but score four.
Hanson shot four-over-par 220. He carded one-under 71 in the first round, and 76 in the second round Wednesday. He finished with a 73 Thursday.
“He played really well,” CdM Coach Mike Starkweather said.
John Hong (73-76-78—227), Karick Brown (74-79-79—232), Chase Wheatley (75-82-80—237) and Bryan Hong (82-87-75—244) also competed for the Sea Kings.

CORONA DEL MAR — Tyler Duncan went two for three for the Sea Kings, who closed out play in the Beach Pit Classic Thursday.
Nolan McCarthy was one for three with a run batted in and Nick Roco added a single for CdM (5-10).
Sea King pitchers Tyler Duncan and Brett Olson combined for a five-hitter.
CdM resumes Pacific Coast League play Tuesday at University.
