Girls’ Volleyball: Estancia’s Griffith sisters earn first-team all-league honors
Estancia High freshman middle blocker Emma Griffith and junior outside hitter Abby Griffith each received first-team All-Orange Coast League accolades in girls’ volleyball, as well as Costa Mesa senior outside hitter Molly Settles. Settles has committed to Johnson & Wales in Denver, Colo., where she has a scholarship to play.
The Griffith sisters helped Estancia (12-8, 7-3 in league) finish second in the Orange Coast League for the first time in three years under Coach Paul Muñoz. Estancia reached the CIF Southern Section playoffs for the third straight season with Muñoz in charge.
Estancia senior libero Charlotte Gaitan and senior setter Ilene Umansky each made the second team.
For Costa Mesa (4-16, 1-9 in league), senior middle blocker Alexandra Martin was a second-team selection.
Laguna Beach’s Alyse Ford was the Orange Coast League MVP.
