IRVINE — Junior Bojan Hrlec scored four goals for the No. 9-ranked Anteaters in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at Anteater Aquatics Complex Thursday night.

Jacob Mourer and Nick Pfeil scored two goals each for UCI (14-8, 0-5 in the MSPF). Goalie Alex Kazmier made eight saves for the Anteaters.

The No. 6 Bears improved to 11-7, 2-3.

UCI plays its home finale Friday night, hosting Pacific at 7. Seniors Kyle Adama, Winston Newland, Nick Pfeil and Brian Pickford will be recognized prior to the game.

Cal 98, Vanguard 57

BERKELEY — The Lions’ Nicole Ballestero scored 21 points to lead all players in the exhibition game Thursday night.

Ballestero also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Maree Drennan added eight points for Vanguard, which trailed, 49-29, at halftime.
