St. Margaret’s def. Sage Hill
NEWPORT COAST — The Tartans earned a 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 Academy League win Friday night.
The Lightning, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division 3-A, fell to 12-6, 4-3 in league.
St. Margaret’s is the top-ranked team in Division 3-A.

WALNUT — Sage Hill senior Dylan Thies finished 10th in 16 minutes, 15 seconds to help lead the Lightning to seventh place in the Division 5 sweepstakes race Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Freshman Cameron Knollenberg (37th, 17:06), senior Chris Andras (48th, 17:19), senior Ryan Fishel (55th, 17:35) and sophomore Alexis Michaca (64th, 17:47) also scored for Sage Hill, which next competes in the Academy League championships at Irvine Regional Park Oct. 31.

WALNUT — Sage Hill senior Sophia Witte finished 33rd in 20 minutes, 58 seconds to help lead the Lightning to finish 12th in the Division 5 sweepstakes race Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Sophomore Brittany Andressoo (38th, 21:01), senior Coral Lee (72nd, 22:27), sophomore Rebecca Fudge (76th, 22:44) and sophomore Claire Goul (78th, 22:44) also competed for Sage Hill.

Jacob Sperling scored two goals and Chris Defrenza added one goal for Estancia in a Valley tournament game Friday.
Goalie Garrett Henscheid had 11 saves for the Eagles.
