IRVINE — Drean Bolivar of Argentina defeated the Anteaters, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, at the Irvine International Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday.

Austin D’Amore and Daniel Stork contributed late in UCI’s lone win in the second set.

The Anteaters, who finished pool play at 1-2, learn Thursday who they will play on Friday.

Chapman 13, Vanguard 12

COSTA MESA — David Buckalew had three goals for the Lions in their home opener Wednesday at Costa Mesa High.

Israel Perez and Sebastian Cordoba each scored twice for Vanguard (1-11), which is at the Lancer Invitational beginning Friday at Cal Baptist.

David Carson scored five goals for Chapman (6-6), which stopped Vanguard in the final minute to win.
