UCI women grab first win of season

SAN DIEGO — Mikah Maly-Karros had 20 points and a season-best 14 rebonds to lead the Anteaters to their first win of the season in the nonconference game Tuesday.

Jade Smith-Williams added 19 points and chipped in a team-best five assists for UCI (1-3).

Junior Kassandra McCalister, an Oregon State transfer in her second game as an Anteater, had 14 poitns off the bench in 29 minutes.

UCI posted a 47-39 rebounding advantage, overcoming a 22-17 turnover deficit. Jazmyne White had eight boards for UCI.
