Newport perfect in tourney

The Newport Lightning Basketball Club’s 13-and-under boys’ team went undefeated last weekend in the Swoosh 4th Of July Classic.

The Lightning earned a big win over NOC Blue, 46-30, and scored a victory in a tight game against Riverside Rage, 46-42.

Keisan South and Max Kline led the Lightning, as South scored 22 points and averaged 12.5 rebounds per game, while Kline scored 12 points per game and recorded three steals per game.

Brett Greenlee was also a key player with eight rebounds per game and 6.5 steals per game.

Logan Miller (6.5 assists per game) and Austin Ridge (3.5 apg) ran the Lightning offense.

Ben Bockrath (6.5 ppg), Parker Reposa (6 rpg) and Chance Brooks (4 rpg) all hit key baskets and provided strong defense in the victories.
