Briefly In Sports: Gaar recognized

Orange Coast College sophomore outfielder Katrina Gaar earned first-team All-Orange Empire Conference recognition in softball.

Gaar, a Corona del Mar High product, hit .343 with 36 hits, 22 runs and 13 runs batted in for the Pirates (11-24, 3-18 in conference).

Gaar, who is now headed to play for University of Maryland Baltimore County, was also successful on seven of eight stolen base attempts.

She played 34 games and started 31 times.
