SHANGHAI, China — Tournament MVP Makenzie Fischer scored two goals as the U.S. women’s water polo senior national team beat Canada, 12-6, in the FINA World League Super Final title game on Sunday.
Fischer, a Laguna Beach High product, was tied for team-high honors by Corona del Mar alumna Maddie Musselman, who also scored twice.
It was the fourth straight gold medal at the FINA World League Super Final for Team USA, and 11th title in the tournament overall.
Sisters Kiley and Jamie Neushul each also scored twice, and Kiley was named to the media all-star team. Jordan Raney scored twice as well for the U.S. in the title game, while Melissa Seidemann and team captain Maggie Steffens had one goal each.
Gabby Stone made nine saves for Team USA, which now gears up for the FINA World Championships this July in Budapest, Hungary.
