EUGENE, Ore. — UC Irvine senior Lloyd Sicard and sophomore teammate Isaiah Jewett failed to advance out of qualifying in their respective events at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday at the University of Oregon.
Sicard ran a time of 13.70 seconds in the semifinals of the 110-meter high hurdles. He was fifth in his section and 14th overall to earn second-team All-American honors.
Sicard, a three-time Big West Conference champion in the event, finished 17th as a sophomore an junior at the NCAA championships. His best time (13.60) is a school record.
Jewett finished 11th in the 800-meter semifinals and was just .24 seconds behind the eighth and final qualifying spot in the final. His time of 1 minute, 47.43 seconds was a personal-best and topped only in UCI annals by Olympian and former NCAA champion Charles Jock.
Jewett concludes a breakout season in which he went undefeated during the regular season and claimed the Big West 800 title.
