Newport Harbor boys’ water polo wins season opener

Ryan Brosnan scored five goals as the Newport Harbor High boys’ water polo team beat Long Beach Wilson 18-4 in its season opener Thursday at Newport Harbor.

Makoto Kenney scored four for the Sailors, with Ike Love, John Rankin and Jake Liechty scoring two each. Jack White, Makana Sanita and Tommy Kennedy also scored.

Max Sandberg had eight saves and four steals in goal for Newport.
