Newport Harbor beats Coronado to improve to 2-0 in boys’ water polo

Sophomores Makoto Kenney and Ike Love each scored three goals as the Newport Harbor High boys’ water polo team beat Coronado 14-4 in a nonleague match Saturday night at Newport Harbor High.
Jack White and Tommy Kennedy each scored twice, and Nick Bergsma, John Rankin, Jason Grew and Jackson Westerman scored one goal each.
Ryan Brosnan had four steals to lead the defensive effort for the Sailors (2-0), and Max Sandberg made 10 saves.
Newport Harbor plays Wednesday at Foothill.
