High school roundup: Los Amigos girls’ soccer advances to first CIF semifinal
Junior forward Vidalia Abarca scored twice as the Los Amigos High girls’ soccer team beat Baldwin Park Sierra Vista 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs at Garden Grove High on Friday night.
Los Amigos (14-5-5) advances to the semifinals for the first time in program history, sixth-year coach Cassidy Abad said.
Abarca has 54 goals this season for the Lobos, who will play host to No. 2-seeded South Pasadena (18-3-3) in a Division 5 semifinal on Tuesday. South Pasadena beat Beaumont 2-1 in another quarterfinal match Friday.
Maya Rodriguez and Alexandria Santiago had the assists for Los Amigos, while goalie Andrea Mendoza-Reyes recorded the shutout.

Costa Mesa 12, Anaheim 6: Victor Tran and Antonio Mondragon swept at No. 1 doubles for the Mustangs in Thursday’s nonleague road match.
Hritik Ronvelia, Nathan Trieu and Devon Rogan all won twice in singles for Costa Mesa (1-1).
