College Roundup: OCC sweeps Citrus

Sophomore outside hitter Danyelle Brown recorded 20 kills to lead the Pirates to a 25-23, 25-11, 25-17 nonconference win at OCC on Wednesday night.
Freshman Katie Duhoux (Newport Harbor High) added 10 kills for OCC (8-1), while setter Measha Lindstrand dished out 31 assists and libero Alisa Ricciardi anchored the defense with 12 digs.
The Owls are 2-7.
The Pirates will play their next two matches on the road, beginning on Friday at Palomar, beginning at 5 p.m. before opening up Orange Empire Conference play at Saddleback College on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. OCC’s next home match will be on Oct. 7 against Cypress, also at 6 p.m.

Brian Torres and Nahum Paz scored for the No. 12-ranked Lions against No. 16 The Master’s in the nonconference match Tuesday.
Juan Arellano added an assist for Vanguard (7-1), which oushot The Master’s 16-11.
The Master’s is 6-2-1.

Danyelle Allen scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute for the Lions in the nonconference match on Tuesday.
Vanguard (7-1) outshot The Master’s 12-1. Both of Allen’s goals were unassisted.
The Master’s dropped to 3-5-1.
