BOCA RATON, Fla. — Sophomore Kiana Palacios scored on a penalty kick in the 81st minute to propel the visiting Anteaters in the nonconference game Sunday.
Corey Tobin had four saves to preserve the shutout.
Palacios, Alex Karlowitsch and Jenny Konishi had two shots apiece for UCI (4-5-1), which ended a stretch of eight straight road matches.
UCI play host to Santa Clara on Friday at 7 p.m.

STANFORD — UC Irvine defeated Pepperdine, 12-9, in the seventh-place game on Sunday at Stanford.
The Anteaters were defeated by Long Beach State, 12-11, in the fifth-place semifinal earlier Sunday.
Against Pepperdine, junior Lovre Milos and sophomore Ryan Warde had three goals apiece to help UCI improve to 7-2.
Against Long Beach State, Dylan Peterson had a career-high 20 saves and Jared Osborne had a career-best seven goals, in a match that extended to sudden-death overtime.
UCI returns to action Oct. 1, when it plays host to UC San Diego at 7 p.m.

DALLAS — The visiting Anteaters posted a 13-0 shot advantage in the nonconference game Sunday.
Lalo Calzada led the Anteaters (1-4-2) with four shots.
SMU improved to 4-4-2.
UCI plays host to No. 17-ranked Loyola Marymount on Thursday at 7 p.m.
