RIVERSIDE — Taylor Smith had a career-high five block assists to pace the visiting Anteaters, who swept, 27-25, 25-21, 25-22, in the Big West Conference clash Thursday.
With the win, UCI (7-10, 2-4 in conference) moves out of a last-place tie with the Highlanders (4-16, 1-5).
Aly Squires had 10 kills and Shaina Olsen had eight for UCI, which received three kills and four block assists from Alex Hauser.
UCI hit .237 at a team, 68 points better than UCR.

RIVERSIDE — The No. 7-ranked Anteaters scored had a season-high scoring output in the Big West Conference road game on Wednesday.
Christian Hernandez and Christopher Santana had a goal and assist to pace UCI (12-2, 4-1 in conference).
Miguel Ibarra and Norby Rodriguez also scored for the ‘Eaters, who also collected an own-goal.
Hernandez and Ibarra both have six goals and five assists this season to share the team lead with 17 points.
UCI visits No. 4-ranked Creighton on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
