COSTA MESA — Senior Amanda Couch had a goal and an assist to lead the host Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game on Saturday.

No. 11-ranked Vanguard amassed a 30-0 advantage in shots to improve to 8-2, 4-0 in conference.

Kayla Arenas and Ashley McCutcheon added goals for the winners, for whom three goalies shared the shutout.

VU has won four straight, all shutouts, and has outsocred foes, 30-5 this season.

COSTA MESA — Jessica Neves had seven kills to help lead the Lions to a 25-7, 25-19, 25-15 Golden State Athletic Conference win Saturday.

Carly Maxwell led Vanguard (13-9, 4-3 in conference) with 11 assists and nine digs.

Arizona Christian is 7-13, 0-6.

UC Davis def. UC Irvine

IRVINE — Aly Squires had 11 kills and nine digs to lead the Anteaters, but the Aggies won, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 Saturday.

Sydney Wright had 10 kills, Kristin Winkler had 14 digs and Molly Yoder finished with 12 digs for the Anteaters (8-11, 3-3 in conference).

UC Davis is 9-9, 3-2.

COSTA MESA — Mattia Brodar, Hector Garcia, Kyle O’Brien and Edgar Hernandez scored one goal each for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Cofnerence game Saturday.

Brandon Castle, Sam Nicholson and Bryan Ponce had one assist each for Vanguard (5-5-2, 3-0-1 in conference).

Arizona Christian is 3-7-1, 0-4.

Gary Troyer Tournament

LA VERNE — Mitch Wise and Chris Swieca scored three goals each to lead No. 4-ranked UC Irvine to a 14-6 win over Cal Lutheran Saturday.

Alan Robertson and Jacob Mourer added two goals each for the Anteaters (14-3), who beat Whitter, 18-4, earlier in the day. Bojan Hrlec scored four goals in that win and Wise added three.

LA JOLLA — UC Irvine finished 12th Saturday.

Emma Archuleta led the Anteaters with a 42nd-place finish of 23:7.9 over 6,000 meters as San Diego State’s Marianne Hogan was the race winner in 22:06.1.

UCI’s Camille Maron was 55th in 24:11.7, Katherine Kass finished 64th in 24:17.6, Nicole Mendoza was 70th in 24:26.9 and Nicole Kent 82nd in 24:40.8.

Triton Classic

LA JOLLA — Calvin Tan was the top UC Irvine runner Saturday.

Tan covered the 8,000-meter course in 28:20.7 to finish 72nd.

Tanner Collins of UC San Diego won the race in 26:15.0.

UC San Diego won the meet with 25 points and UCI finished 13th with 381.
