SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Senior middle blocker Zoe Kreitenberg recorded 10 kills and hit .500, but JSerra won the season opener, 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, 25-14, on Wednesday.

Maggie Danner contributed nine kills and six digs for the Lightning, ranked No. 6 in the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA preseason poll.

Halland McKenna had seven kills and 17 digs.

Coach Dan Thomassen said the Lighting played without senior outside hitter Natasha Sakraney, who was out with a sore ankle.

Sage Hill plays at Irvine Friday at 5:30 p.m.
