Doubleheader
COSTA MESA — Host Vanguard University scored two in its final at-bat to earn a 3-2 Game 2 victory and a split in Golden State Athletic Conference action Saturday.
Pinch-hitter Bryson Rahier singled with two outs in the seventh inning and Tyson Leighton hit a walk-off homer to key the win for the Lions (14-17, 10-11 in conference).
Leighton was three for four with all three runs batted in for Vanguard, which dropped the first game, 2-1 in 10 innings.
Point Loma is 16-14, 11-12.

SAN MARCOS — UC Irvine junior Thomas Hamm won the men’s pole vault (14 feet, 103/4 inches) on Saturday.
Senior Matt Lahti (second in the men’s hammer throw at 179-1), junior Kelly Collins (third in the women’s 100-meter hurdles in 14.43 seconds), and freshman Christa Kondru (fourth in the women’s shot put at 37-91/2) also stood out for UCI.
WOMEN’S WATER POLO
UC Irvine 14, Hartwick 7
IRVINE — The Anteaters pulled away, ending the nonconference match on an 8-1 run Saturday at UCI.
Jessy Cardey scored four goals for No. 14-ranked hosts (14-7).
Kelsey Klatt, Danielle Warde and Hannah Croghan each scored twice and Lauren Davis made nine saves.
No. 16 Hartwick fell to 20-8.
SOFTBALL
Doubleheader
RIVERSIDE — Top-ranked Cal Baptist swept visiting Vanguard, 6-1 and 4-0, in Golden State Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
Vanguard shortstop Kimberly Skoglund was two for three with a run scored in Game 1. She scored on a single by second baseman Ariana Atwater.
Designated player Elizabeth Archer was also two for three for the Lions (19-18, 0-7 in conference).
Kaysie Flasck managed the only hit for Vanguard in Game 2 as pitcher Tory Ferreira improved to 14-0 for the Lancers (44-1, 7-0).
