NEWPORT COAST — Senior outside hitter Chris Zadra had nine kills and 10 digs as the Lightning swept, 25-19, 25-23, 25-18, in the nonleague match at home Wednesday night.
Junior setter Kent Kawaguchi had five kills, 10 assists, four service aces and three blocks for Sage (1-1). Freshman Jack Burgi added four kills.
The Lightning return to action March 8, at home against Ocean View.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Estancia’s Jake Knapp was co-medalist, firing a two-under-par 34 in the nonleague match Wednesday at Tijeras Creek Golf Club.
Courtland Lee (39), Aaron Wood (39), Eddie Chervony (45) and Davin Ortiz (48) also scored for the Eagles (1-1). Coach Art Perry said his team was missing Jake Stone and Bill Crosson, as the match was rescheduled from later in the season.
Estancia plays Long Beach Millikan on Thursday at El Dorado Park Golf Course.

COSTA MESA — Mustangs senior Chris Pawinski shared medalist honors with Tustin’s Christian Rangel, as both shot three-over-par 38 in the nonleague match at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Wednesday.
Senior Nelson Negrillo (39), junior James Nasher (46), sophomore Sushil Bhaka (50) and junior Michael Scheidt (53) also scored for Costa Mesa (2-1).
