OCC trio makes first team
Orange Coast College sophomores Samantha Hansen, Amanda Deal and Alyssa Hanson earned first-team All-Orange Empire Conference recognition in women’s basketball.
Sophomore reserve guard Helena Robel represented OCC on the second team.
Hansen, a second-team all-conference choice as a freshman, averaged 15.9 points 7.0 rebounds and led the Pirates (22-8) with 46 blocks.
The 6-foot forward was also named second-team all-state.
Deal, a second-team pick as a freshman, averaged 11.9 points and made a team-best 85 three-pointers, while shooting 35.3% from beyond the arc during the regular season.
The 5-7 guard’s 85 three-pointers ranked second in the state. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds per game.
Hanson, a 5-7 guard, averaged 9.1 points and a team-leading 4.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds in the regular season.
The 5-5 Robel averaged 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
OCC finished second in conference.
The Pirates play host to Southwestern tonight at 7 in a Southern California Regional second-round playoff game.
