SANTA BARBARA — UC Irvine set a single-game scoring record in a 22-5 victory over Vanguard on Sunday and also defeated UC Santa Barbara, 9-5, to conclude its four games at the two-day tournament.
The No. 10-ranked Anteaters finished the season-opening tournament with a 3-1 record, outscoring opponents, 65-20.
Freshman Danielle Warde led UCI with five goals against the No. 12-ranked Gauchos. She scored three against Vanguard.
Junior Amy Riddering had a career-high four goals against Vanguard, while Caitlin Haskell had four combined goals Sunday.

SEATTLE — UC Irvine senior Alisha Misiaita won the shot put Saturday, topping the 29-competitor field with a mark of 50 feet, 21/2 inches, an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Junior Chris Kearney pushed his No. 1 singles opponent to three sets for the Anteaters’ highlight in the ITA Kickoff Weekend event Sunday against the No. 4-ranked Buckeyes.
No. 33-ranked Kearney was defeated, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6, by No. 63-ranked Chase Buchanan.
Kearney and partner Stephen Stege dropped a hard-fought 9-7 verdict at No. 1 doubles.
UCI is 1-3.

IRVINE — Freshman Brooke Schweyer won in singles and doubles for the host Anteaters in their nonconference season opener on Saturday.
Schweyer posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olivia Colman at No. 5 singles. She then teamed with junior Hannah Holladay to claim an 8-6 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Sophomore Kristina Smith also posted a No. 3 singles win for UCI.
